Its funny how, in this day and age, we take for granted the staples of modern gaming. Stuff like HDR, realistic water effects, reasonably intelligent AI (that could, if asked, navigate itself out of a paper bag, to coin a phrase). But to an older gamer, these things are still relatively new tech. And, in the ever changing battlefield for supremacy, they are utterly essential for a system to keep abreast of the competition.

Okay, lets get the obligatory Minecraft post over with. Don’t look at me like that, all the blogging gamers have at least one…
Minecraft is a puzzle to me. I have lost entire evenings building castles and bridges and large, oddly shaped monuments to some unknown deity in this hugely popular game; however, I can’t for the life of me work out why. Its not a bad game, its beautiful (for someone who grew up with Super Mario Bros.), and compulsive. It, for me, simply has no direction. I can explore, sure. But to what end? Evening. I’ve always had a vague intention of creating a blog, full of the interesting facts and opinions that fill the void between my ears and occasionally spill out in everyday conversations (as my girlfriend will attest, I talk some amount of crap), but the sad fact is: what I consider interesting is not exactly entertainment material.
